Rubik's Cube Inflatable Seat

Official Inflatable Rubik's Cube Seat
Official Inflatable Rubik's Cube Chair by Rubik's at Amazon (UK)
Not available in the U.S. - sorry!

If you would like to add a touch of fun 80s style to your home then I have something here that will make you jump out of your chair with excitement - then you can sit back down again on this inflatable seat which looks like a giant Rubik's cube! However, please note that this chair is designed for children up to 10 years old, and is not large enough for an adult - the size is 40 x 40 x 40 centimetres.

Unlike many inflatables, this is made from plush velour material (which is washable) which makes it softer to sit on, although the material is quite thin. By the way, this is the official design from Rubik's Cube themselves.

After pulling out the seal near the bottom, you can inflate the seat using your own breath, but I would really recommend using a pump.

Now, I know a good many people who really would like to get their hands one of these, and it would be great as an extra chair in a child's room, or to add some quirky 80s decor to a room, particularly if you're planning on throwing an 80s party, of course!

After the Ideal Toy Corp bought the license to sell the cube in 1980, it quickly became the biggest-selling toy in the world. There are now literally hundreds of cube-related gifts available which shows just what an incredible design it is. The 3D puzzle was invented in 1974 by Erno Rubik and was originally called The Magic Cube. It first went on sale in 1980 as Rubik's Cube which is why it became synonymous with the decade.

Blondie - Debbie Harry - 70s and 80s Fashion Photos

Embed from Getty Images
Back in my school days (yes, it was a long, long time ago!) many kids associated Blondie purely with lead singer Debbie Harry, although Blondie was actually a band, and a damn fine one, too. It's not hard to see why. After all, she oozed sex appeal and became a style icon, and many of her looks can still be seen on the high street today.

Harry's designer friend Stephen Sprouse can claim responsibility for many of those looks. He created every style you can imagine using denim, black leather biker jackets, camoflauge, wayfarer and aviator shades, pink and girly styles, nautical stripes, animal print catsuits - the list goes on!

I find it amusing that in 1998 Britney Spears caused controversy by wearing a school uniform for her video "Hit Me Baby One More Time". How quickly we forget that Debbie Harry had done this two decades earlier!

After forming in 1974, Blondie became pioneers of the punk and new wave scene. However, it wasn't until 197…

Create an 80s Party Girl Costume

For this post I'm going to show you how to quickly piece together a costume similar to the one featured above, or create your own variation of it. The main focus of the outfit is the 80s Party Girl T-shirt which has eye-catching, Katharine Hamnett style block lettering in neon colours. Now, you can, of course, use different accessories to create many looks based around the tee. Let me show you how to create the look from top to toe.

The T-shirt

Obviously, this is the main component and I've linked to ebay above where there are usually at least a couple of suppliers selling the tee. If you're from the UK then you can also buy the shirt at Amazon. In the United States, there are many suppliers selling tees based on the slogan at Amazon.com.

Shirts and sweatshirts were often worn off one shoulder and were over-sized, sometimes doubling-up as a dress. I recommend ordering at least a size-up to ensure you achieve a loose look. You can buy T-shirts that are designed to be worn o…

Create a Tina Turner 1980s Fancy Dress Costume

Ask anyone to name a few great female singers from the 80s and it's highly likely that they will mention Tina Turner. This lady was huge back in the eighties, with hits including What's Love Got To Do With Itand We Don't Need Another Hero, to name but a few.

If you want to be simply the best dressed person at a fancy dress party, then why not try this gorgeous, shiny Tina Turner dress featured above?  If you're going to an 80s or pop star themed party then this costume is ideal but it can, of course, be used for other fancy dress events.

Although I have linked to the U.S. Amazon store, the costume is not available here, sadly, although you will find a range of wigs and a couple of suitable dresses. However, there are costumes available on ebay, and the prices are very decent. This link will work in any English speaking country.

You can buy an even more authentic-looking dress from Amazon, I remember two very different gold dress that Tina wore back in the 80s, one of …
