Rick Astley 80s Homage Sweatshirt

Rick Astley is best known for his 80s hit "Never Gonna Give You Up", and he was, undoubtedly, one of the best male singers of the decade. You can pay homage to him with this unisex Rick Astley sweatshirt, which features the singer as he was back in the 80s, complete with his trademark quiff and baby face.  The design is digitally printed using eco friendly ink, which is always a bonus. The sweatshirt is available in four colours; black, grey, pink and white in adult sizes. The black one is available in sizes from small to 5XL, while the other colours are available in S, M, L or XL. This could change at any time, so go and check it out at the Sanfran Clothing Store on Amazon.co.uk. There is also free shipping to the UK.   Rick's debut album Whenever You Need Somebody was a huge success, acheiving 4 x platinum sales in the UK and Canada. Rick's success continued through the 1980s, with a total of seven top 10 hits from 1987 to 1989, and a No.7 hit in 1991 with

12 Days of Ugly 80s Christmas Sweaters

For this post, I bring you my 12 days of ugly Christmas sweaters with an 80s theme. That's one for each day, if you can afford it! Now, Just about everyone of a certain age remembers receiving at least one ugly sweater for Christmas back in the day. I received a nausea-inducing, hand knitted jumper every Christmas from my gran back in the 70s and 80s, and I was forced to wear it every time I visited her, just to show that I was very grateful for it. Well, I couldn't wait for the warmer weather to arrive so I could finally dump it in the nearest bin! Back in the 80s, we had a generation of fashion concious teens disposing of their ugly hand-knitted and machine knitted pullovers into landfill. It's somewhat ironic, then, that these days we can't get enough of ugly Christmas sweaters, which are based on the Fair Isle and Nordic knit patterns that were so unpopular with trendy kids when I was a youngster.   Anyway, I have to say that I have grown to like them in my older ye

Top Of The Pops Logo Hoodie

If you were to ask me to name just one TV programme that I really miss from the 80s, then I would have to say Top of the Pops . Although those times have gone forever, sadly, you can still pay homage to the show with this awesome Top of the Pops 80s logo hoodie Of all the logos used during the series, this neon logo is my absolute favourite. It was replaced in 1986 with some new-fangled orange and blue thing (which I hated!), which seemed to conincide with the music charts slowly deteriorating, too. The 70s and the first half of the 80s was definitely the best time to be watching the show, for sure, and the sheer exitement of waiting to watch your favourite bands (even if they were miming!) was something I really miss. This logo is pretty iconic, and looks pretty awesome on this hoodie, more particularly the charcoal or black one which makes it stand out, although there is a nice choice of other colours. It's available from Etsy in unisex sizes from Small to XX-Large. Keeping the w

Rainbow Brite Made in the 80s Hoodie

Rainbow Brite Hoodie Although the 80s party season had to be put on hold this year due to that wretched Covid-19, you can still show your love for the decade during the cooler months.  For this post, I want to show you an awesome Rainbow Brite hoodie for women that is proving to be popular on my website 80hoodies.com.  The officially licensed graphic features Rainbow Brite and her high energy sprite sidekick Twink, with the message "Made in the 80s". This cute, baby pink hooded sweatshirt would make an awesome gift for someone born between 1980 and 1989.  Featuring a feminine fit, this top quality hoodie is made from heavyweight material, and is, therefore, ideal for keeping warm and snug, and also showing your love for the magical 80s cartoon character, of course! I also found these hoodies and sweatshirts on Amazon an Etsy which you can view below. The white one is particularly good value and is also available in other colours.  Rainbow Brite and Starlite White Hoodie, S

K-9 Doctor Who T-shirt

Would you like a K-9 T-shirt?  Affirmative Master!  If you're looking for a T-shirt that is both 80s and geeky. then I have found the perfect item for you. This awesome tee features the robotic dog K-9 from Doctor Who, and it's the ultimate in retro geekness! Both much-loved and much-hated, the character first appeared alongside the fourth doctor (played by Tom Baker) in 1977. You may also remember that he starred in a spin-off programme called  K-9 and Company  alongside the Doctor's companion Sarah Jane Smith, who was played by Elisabeth Sladen. More recently, K-9 Mark IV featured in The Sarah Jane Adventures, which also starred the original actress Elisabeth Sladen and aired from 2007 to 2011. Very much like a well-known brand of yeast extract spread, you either loved or hated K-9. I think he was a great addition the the series, and being both loyal and logical (and not leaving a mess everywhere he goes!), I reckon every home needs a K-9! Anyway, let's actually discu

Never Gonna Give You Up T-shirt

Never Gonna Give You Up T-shirt Slogan T-shirts were huge back in the 80s, and you can pay homage to fashion craze and also Rick Astley's hit single Never Gonna Give You Up with this awesome T-shirt. It features a block letter design in a similar style to the Katharine Hamnett political and ethical message tees, which have since been copied the world over. You may well remember those Choose Life and Frankie Say Relax tees, which were two of the most popular slogans back in the day. Ladies Never Gonna Give You Up T-shirt The T-shirt is available in sizes from small to 3XL for men, and small to XXL for women. There are no other colour choices, but the black lettering on a white tee is exactly the style of the 1980s. If you're planning on using the shirt for an 80s event, then I recommened ordering a larger size than normal to get that over-sized look which was popular back then. Woolworth's Cassette Tapes TV Ad from 1983

So what has a 1983 TV advert for cassette tapes by Woolworth's got do do with 80s fashion? Well, quite a lot actually. For a start, cassettes were very fashionable back then, but the advert is quite fascinating to watch with regard to the clothing being worn by the people in the ad, as it is so dull! There's a lot of grey and navy blue, which suggests they wanted the attention to be focused on the tapes and not the clothing. Indeed, it looks like a store full of plain clothes police officers! Featuring a whopping 35p off the 100 hottest tapes, that amount seems laughable now. But back in 1983, it was enough to tempt you in, I suppose. You will notice that Kenny Everett is narrating with his slightly zany voice. Of course, Kenny was huge back then, so he would have been roped in to help boost sales, and I expect he was paid a tidy sum, of course. The end of the advert features the slogan which you will, no doubt, remember "That's the wonder of woolworth". I really

Retro 80s Video Tapes T-shirt for Adults

The design is exclusive to Truffleshuffle, so you can be sure of receiving something very unique. The tee is available for men and women, and comes in a full range of sizes. A Look Back at Old Spice Aftershave

Vintage Old Spice bottles Anyone of a certain age will, no doubt, remember the Old Spice TV ads which were a regular feature on our TV screens from the 1960s through to the 1980s. Indeed, I've just viewed an old advert from 1989 which was pretty simple, featuring a surfer riding the waves and ending with the slogan "The Mark of a Man". However, the ads shown before this were much longer and not only featured a surfer, but also included a dramatic and well known piece of music entitled "O Fortuna" from a classical choral piece called "Carmina Buran" compoised by Carl Orff.  The first Old Spice products from Procter & Gamble were actually developed for women in 1937, and the men's products were launched in 1938. They have always been marketed with a nautical them and with that trademark sailing ship on the front of the bottle, although the ship used to be much larger as you can see in the picture above. I'm not entirely sure what y

Gremlins Gizmo Pyjamas for Women

The original 1984 Gremlins movie was a true 80s classic, and you can celebrate everyone's favourite character in the film with these cute Gizmo pyjamas for women  available at Truffleshufffle UK. Thankfully, you are allowed to wash them without the fear of spawning more Mogwai, and he doesn't need to be fed, so there's no worrying about the clock reaching 12pm. This top quality, officially licensed pyjama set is extremely popular at the moment, and includes a crew neck top featuring Gizmo and the Gremlins logo, and pink bottoms with an all over matching print. They're made from 100% jersey cotton, too and are a comfortable fit. It comes printed on a lightweight, unisex tee in charcoal grey, and it would make a great gift for 80s TV fans. A full range of sizes from small to 3X-Large are available.
